The effective date of cancellation is the date postmarked. Any refunds due will be made by the school within 30 days. Materials - Initial correspondence course materials shall be sent to the student within five (5) working days following receipt of the student's enrollment, or the student may rescind the contract and shall be entitled to full refund of all monies paid. At any time during the enrollment period, this institution shall, upon written request, send all course materials paid for but not received. Such act will constitute full settlement of the school's obligation except for Five-Day Full Refund Period. An enrollee may cancel enrollment within five working days following receipt of course materials and receive a refund of all monies paid, including registration and material fees, provided all materials are returned in an unused condition. Shipping costs may be deducted from the refund. COURSE CONTENT / TIME LIMITS: The home study course consists of spending a minimum of 3 hours per mandatory course and 30 hours of other education reading and studying the course material, and passing a final exam. The final examination can be taken a minimum of 6 days from the date the student has had access to the course materials. The maximum time students have to complete a course is one year from the date of registration. If students fail the final examination, they can re-take the final examination one time at no additional cost. However, students must wait a minimum of another 6 days studying the course materials before they can re-take the final examination. If a student should receive a grade of Failure after the second attempt, then they may repeat the entire course by submitting a $15.00 registration fee. FINAL EXAMINATION: The final exams are open-book and consist of 25 true/false questions for the mandatory courses and 75 true/false questions for the Legal & Marketing course. Students are allowed one minute per question to complete each final exam and need to score a minimum of 60% to pass. Students have a choice of taking the final exam at REVEI, with a proctor, or on the internet. Students may contact REVEI and request a convenient date and time for the final exam to be taken at REVEI. For proctored exams, students may contact REVEI and request a convenient location, date and time for the final exam and may also suggest the proctor or entity to administer the final exams. However, the final designation and approval of the final exam administrator and determination of the location date and time is the responsibility of REVEI. The exam administrator cannot be related by blood, marriage, domestic partnership, or any other relationship to the student which would influence them from properly administering the exams. Students taking the final exams on-line will be issued a unique username and password. Internet final exams can not be printed or downloaded; and the exams will automatically time-out at one minute per question hours. Under no circumstances shall the final exams be furnished directly to the students. COURSE COMPLETION CERTIFICATES/RECORDS: Course completion certificates will be issued within 5 days of passing the final examination. Records of course completion certificates will be maintained indefinitely to allow students to receive a duplicate certificate if needed. PROBLEMS/COMPLAINTS: Persons seeking to resolve problems or complaints should contact REVEI at the address or telephone number above. EVALUATION: The DRE has a course and instructor evaluation available on the lower right section of the homepage of their web-site at www.dre.ca.gov. DISCLOSURE STATEMENT: Private providers of correspondence real estate courses must obtain course approval from the Department of Real Estate. As part of the approval process, the DRE reviews the course materials only. The DRE does not qualify the school or course provider. In addition, there is no regulatory oversight of private correspondence course providers who offer courses or programs costing $500 or less. For courses or programs over $500, qualifications by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education is required, in addition to DRE course approval. As a result, if a course provider offering a course costing $500 or less fails to deliver the educational course/program as represented, a student's monetary remedy is to seek redress in Small Claims Court. Students are cautioned to fully understand the education course/program offered by the provider before enrolling or registering. A list of correspondence courses approved by the DRE can be found on the DRE Web site at www.dre.ca.gov under DRE Records. © Copyright 2007 - All Rights Reserved |
